TextTally ("we," "us," "this site") operates countingofwords.com/. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your information when you use it.

We Do Not Collect the Text You Enter

Every counting tool on this site — the Word & Character Counter, Chinese Word Counter, Paragraph Counter, Sentence Counter, and Chinese Character Counter — processes your text entirely inside your own browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type or paste into any tool on this site is sent to our servers, stored in a database, logged, or transmitted to any third party. If you close the tab or refresh the page, the text is gone completely, because it was never anywhere but your browser’s memory in the first place.

We Do Not Run Analytics or Tracking Scripts

This site does not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking script that profiles your behavior. We do not use cookies to track you across visits or across other websites.

One Honest Caveat: Basic Web Hosting Logs

We want to be accurate rather than make a blanket claim we can’t stand behind: like virtually every website on the internet, our hosting provider’s infrastructure automatically processes some baseline technical information as part of simply serving you the page — things like your IP address, browser type, and request timestamps, captured in standard server logs for security and uptime purposes. This is infrastructure-level activity we don’t actively collect, analyze, or use ourselves; it exists because that’s how web servers function, not because we’ve built anything to track you. We are not currently running any analytics platform, ad network, or tracking pixel on top of that baseline.

Contact Form

If you use our Contact page, we receive only what you choose to submit — your name, email address, and message — solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add contact-form submissions to a mailing list, and we do not use that information for any purpose beyond replying to you.

No Accounts, No Sign-Up, No Uploads

This site does not require or offer user registration. There are no accounts, no saved profiles, and no document upload feature for the counting tools — everything runs from a text box you type or paste directly into.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change — for example, if we ever introduce analytics or advertising — we will update this page to accurately reflect that before making the change live, rather than leaving an outdated “we collect nothing” claim in place.
